Road Trip

Hey, y'all!

So, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that we (my family and I) are on a road trip around the US.  (Oh, and for those of you who thought I live in West Africa: I do, but we're here in the US on furlough. [furlough is when we come back for awhile to see people and raise support to be able to go back to the country God called us to])  Like I said, we've seen some really cool things, and some really fun people, too.  Right now, we're with my extended family in PA, whom we haven't seen in 6 years!  It's been really great to see them again, and meet all the cousins we weren't able to see last time, or we simply don't remember.  (Last time we were here, everyone was pretty little and cute! :P)

What's an MK?

Hi, I'm back again!
So, like I said in my last post, I'm an MK.  Not very many people know exactly what that stands for, so I'll tell you.  Or, of course, you could just look it up on Dictionary.com, but that's work, so I won't make you do that.
MK stands for Missionary Kid.  This means two things.  A. that we are kid missionaries, and B. that we are the child of a missionary kid.  The fun part about being an MK is that most of the time you get to live in a foreign country.  Like, say, Mexico, or Kenya, or even the Philippines!  You don't have to move to another country to be an MK, though.  Your parents could be working on translating the Bible into a language for a Native American tribe.  However, a lot of MKs end up over seas.
As an MK, me and my friends like to talk about things you can always expect from a country.  For example, in Belgium, you can by nice chocolate in the airport, and Canadians are super polite because they often apologize.  (Actually, I do too, but most of the time it's more of a "I'm feeling for you" apology.  I use the word Asha, which is from the language Pidgin)  All that to say, when we found the Studio C sketch "International Relations" we all got super excited, and laughed really hard.

I found it on YouTube and posted it here for you.  Oh, just to clarify: Studio C is a comedy group that makes clean funny videos about almost everything.

Hi!
I'm so glad you could join me!  My name is Ali, and I am an MK who lives in West Africa.  My family and I are living and traveling around in the US right now, and we've seen a lot of cool things, like Yosemite, and the Sequoias.  My favorite part of this trip so far, though, has been seeing other MKs who are just like me, and getting to laugh and joke about things that other people wouldn't or couldn't understand, no matter how much they want too.  (Like having to get off a phone call with your grandmother because it was raining so hard you can't hear her)
